Influence of Rare Earth Oxide Concentration on Electrochemical Co-Deposition of Nd and Pr from NdF3-PrF3-LiF Based Melts

The impact of rare earth oxide (REO) concentration on the deposition process and selective recovery metal being deposited from a molten fluoride salt system was investigated by applying Nd Pr varying REO added to electrolyte. A ternary phase diagram for liquidus temperature NdF3-PrF3-LiF constructed better predict optimal electrolyte constitution. Cyclic voltammetry used record three redox signals, reflecting processes involving Nd(III)/Nd Pr(III)/Pr transformations. two-step red/ox Nd(III) ions single-step Pr(III) were confirmed square-wave voltammetry. cyclic results indicated possibility neodymium praseodymium co-deposition. In order sustain higher co-deposition rates cathode avoid increased production PFC greenhouse gases anode, low-overpotential technique electrodeposition with Nd2O3 Pr6O11 concentrations.
